Chocolate Rose Contest

Submission Requirements

Entries must include the following:

♥ The first page of a manuscript previously unsubmitted to this contest. 

Your entry must be double-spaced, 25 text lines maximum. Use a standard 12-pt font. In the header, indicate the entry’s category (historical or contemporary) instead of its title. Your name should not appear anywhere on the page. Save the entry as a .rtf or .doc file.

♥  A completed electronic entry form (one per entry).  You will be asked to upload your file when you fill out the form, so have it ready to go!

♥ $5.00 fee per entry (or $5.50 per entry if paying through PayPal)

Eligibility and restrictions

The contest is open to MORWA members in good standing who are unpublished in book-length romantic fiction. Only two entries per person are allowed. The previous year’s First Place winner is ineligible for this year’s contest but may enter next year’s contest if still unpublished.

Deadline for entry

Entry and payment must be received no later than 11:00 a.m. CDT on Saturday, March 20, 2010 (the date of the March MORWA meeting). Please realize it may take several minutes (or longer) for your entry to be received through electronic means; any entry date-stamped after the cut-off will not be accepted. To ensure your entry is received on time, please submit early.

Entry fee

$5.00 per entry if mailing a personal check or money order; $5.50 per entry if submitting your fee through PayPal.

Prizes

First, second, and third places will be awarded at the May 15th MORWA meeting.

Judging

Each entry will be judged by the previous year’s Chocolate Rose winner and five sold/published MORWA authors. Results will be tabulated by the contest coordinator. Submissions will be returned to the entrants no later than the June meeting. If for any reason the previous year’s winner cannot judge, a sixth judge will be selected from the membership. Entrants must agree to have their work read by all judges. Any request to have a submission read by fewer judges will result in disqualification from the current contest.
