about morwa

MORWA represents approximately 60 established and aspiring authors in the St. Louis and Metro-East regions, encompassing all genres of romantic fiction.

Our goals are to foster professionalism in the romantic fiction field and to support our members in their writing careers. We meet monthly to provide a wide array of seminars by established authors, others in the publishing industry, and experts from the St. Louis community. Members are also encouraged to join our critique group, an invaluable tool for honing the craft and encouraging each other. MORWA publishes a monthly newsletter for our members.

MORWA is committed to being an inclusive, welcoming organization for all, no matter a person's race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or politicAnnual dues are $25 per year.

morwa membership benefits

monthly meetings

Meeting in-person provides networking opportunities for our members to discuss current publishing trends, learn writing craft, and more.

critique group

CORE, our members'-only critique group, meets monthly separately from our monthly meeting.   Assigned readers bring excerpts from their work in progress and receive feedback from participants.  See our calendar for CORE dates and locations.

email group

All chapter members are on a private e-mail group for personal and chapter announcements, questions, and between-meeting discussions.

special events

MORWA periodically holds longer and all-day workshops featuring industry professionals, which we open to the public.

gateway to the best contest

Gateway to the Best is our annual romantic fiction writing contest for unpublished and self-published authors and is open to the public.  Each category has three finalists whose entries are judged by industry professionals, including editors and agents.

Our newsletter, Rumpled Sheets, is sent out monthly to keep you informed of chapter events, reviews of members' latest releases, and other items of interest.

morwa meeting information

MORWA meets most months throughout the year.   Our day usually begins with the board of directors meeting at 9:15 a.m. At 10:15 a.m. we conduct our chapter business meeting.  The scheduled program begins around 11:15 a.m. and normally lasts for one to one and half hours, followed with lunch at a local restaurant.  All times are subject to change however, so check the Calendar page for the current month's schedule.

Guests (non-chapter members) are welcome to attend our monthly meetings, but there is a guest fee of $5 per meeting.
After attending two meetings, guests will be required to join the chapter.

As we try to provide the best value to our chapter, our meeting location is either the Kirkwood Public Library, 140 E Jefferson Ave, Kirkwood, MO 63122  or the Dielmann Center in Creve Coeur, MO.  Please check our calendar page for the current month's meeting location and a map.
